We found out yesterday that Uncle Joe does not have much longer, so we went to see him after work and spent a few hours in his room with him and family. He became somewhat alert at one point and was able to speak a little bit. We took that opportunity to hug him and tell him we loved him. He is mostly sleeping now and they have him on a lot of medicine to keep him comfortable. In March he went into surgery to have part fo his intestine removed, a part that had apparently died. During the surgery they found he had cancer and liver desease. The cancer they found was apparently a very rare kind. I can't remember the name correctly, but something like Bergkids Cancer, which is predominantly found in African American males. This cancer apparently is very rapid and the doctors said by medical definition he should have been dead 5 months ago. God wasn't ready for him.
He was going through rounds of Kemo, and before the last round he was doing better and getting up and around on his own... but the last round of treatment completely weakened him.
We pray that he will remain comfortable along the final days of his lifes' journey.

I'm so very sorry to hear about MJ's Uncle Joe.
ReplyDeleteMy prayers and thoughts are with the Jones family. I would certainly understand if you need to cancel your trip to SD. God Bless You.
Patty and MJ,
ReplyDeleteI know you are a very close family, so this has got to be very difficult for you. I send my love to you both and your family. God bless you all.
